NEUROFYSIOLOGISCHE AANVULLENDE BEHANDELING  BIJ STRESSGERELATEERDE STOORNISSEN MET HRV-BIOFEEDBACK

HeartRateVariability biofeedback is een non-invasieve behandelwijze waarbij de patient verondersteld wordt te werken aan zelfregulatie van een verstoorde nervus vagus-functie. HRVbiofeedback lijkt veelbelovend bij diverse stressgerelateerde stoornissen.

Zes randomized Controlled Trials maken zichtbaar dat acht weken behandeling met HRV biofeedback gecombineerd met CBT (cognitieve gedrags therapie) resulteert in 77% reductie op de Beck Depressie Schaal terwijl de controlegroep (CBT of CBT met ontspanningstraining) slechts 37% reductie op de BDI-schaal laten zien. Ook bij PostTraumatische StressStoornissen toont HRVbiofeedback plus CBT 53% reductie vergeleken met 24% reductie in de controle groep (CBT en medicatie).

Angststoornissen, trauma, ADHD, burnout en depressie hebben allemaal een direct effect op onze fysiologie, in het bijzonder op verstoring van het Autonome Zenuw Stelsel (AZS). Maar ook bij stress, topprestaties en faalangst/podiumangst. In de normale toestand wisselen sympathische en parasympathische activiteit continu af: het gaspedaal en de rem van ons zenuwstelsel. Bij ernstige ontregeling van het AZS is het Sympathisch ZenuwStelsel hyperactief (en in een later stadium volledig ontregeld) en de Nervus Vagus gedeactiveerd. Effect: geen mogelijkheid om rust te voelen, slaapproblemen, piekeren, depressieve stemming.

Na acht weken HRV-biofeedback training (ademritme in resonantie met hartritme) kan deze disregulatie gedeeltelijk of volledig worden hersteld en wordt de Autonome Balans hersteld, hetgeen behandeling van stressgerelateerde stoornissen kan optimaliseren (gecombineerd met cognitieve gedrags therapie, psychotherapie, medicatie).Effectieve behandeling vraagt om zelfregulatie door de client zelf, balans van het Autonome ZenuwStelsel, zodat meer veerkracht wordt gecreeerd. 

HeartRate Variability biofeedback maakt balans en ontregeling van het AZS visueel zichtbaar. Het scherm toont het HRV patroon en de analyse van Actie (sympathisch/ hyperactiviteit), Balans (Autonome balans en veerkracht) or Calm-slaap (dominantie van parasympathisch systeem).
